It is known as the ‘home of elephants’, Tarangire is famous for having a large number of elephant herds. It was named after the Tarangire River, which crosses through the park. Tarangire is a vast park that holds almost all of the big five except the rhino hino. It is rich in vegetation and wildlife
Apart from many families of elephants, you will see other animals like lions, wildebeests, buffalos, zebras, leopards etc. This park has an area of about 2,850 km². The Tara River supplies the animals with water and nurtures the plant ecosystem . In addition to that, Tarangire National Park has very large baobab trees that been there for many years. You will then have a picnic lunch as you watch the stunning view of Tarangire around the Tara River.
