Known as the 8th wonder of the world, Ngorongoro Crater is also known for its exquisite beauty. The animals are often active in the early morning; thus, an early morning drive is highly recommended. Depending on what you and your safari guide decide; you could have breakfast at the camp and carry a packed lunch. On the other hand, you can also carry a packed breakfast and lunch. On this day, you will descend into the crater which is filled with both vegetation, forestry and animals. The crater was formed by volcanic activities in the past that caused the creation of a caldera. The caldera got deeper and bigger and has a depth of about 610 meters.
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers an area of about 260 square kilometers. You will get to explore Africa’s ‘Garden of Eden’ in the comfort of your safari vehicle and spot the Big Five – the elephant, the buffalo, the leopard, the black mane lion and the rare black rhino. You will also be able to see hyenas, jackals, flamingos and the yawning hippos. Enjoy a delightful picnic lunch in the heart of this ancient volcanic crater close to the hippo pool!
In the evening, you will drive back to the Marera Valley lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
