There will also be someone waiting for you in the arrivals area holding a banner with your names on it. When everything and everyone is done; you will begin your journey to your first accommodation, Africa Amini.
Africa Amini is actually a Swahili word that means “Believe in Africa” and this hotel has such a beautiful origin story. It is located between the famous Mount Kilimanjaro and the stunning Mount Meru, so it offers breathtaking views of nature. It was originally created by the Maasai on land they considered uninhabitable. Yet years later, they managed to create something so beautiful. It’s in the Original Maasai Lodge and Hillside Retreat, which you will see when you get there.
From the beginning, the AfricaAmini allowed the Maasai to create their own source of income. As the hotel grew, so did their efforts. With this in mind, the lodge, with the help of Christine and Cornellia Wallner, has created various programs that allow the community that lives around the site to continue to thrive and make a living. The projects they carried out led to the start of medical projects, educational projects, and social projects, benefiting the local people.
You will be welcomed by a great team who will provide you with everything you need. Enjoy the evening with the most memorable sensations as you interact with one of Tanzania’s oldest tribes.
Depending on where you are, you will be awakened by a beautiful sunrise with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will have a pole day and after breakfast you will start your day. Since the lodge is surrounded by locals, you will spend the day interacting with the Maasai and learning about their culture. You can also see the different projects being invested in and their impact on the Maasai community. You can then take it easy and look forward to a new day!
