To minimize driving time, it is advisable for you to take a flight from Zanzibar to Northern Serengeti. Why Northern Serengeti? After the heavy rains in April and May, the ground begins to dry again in July. Therefore, there is less green grass and water which causes large herds of wildebeests accompanied by zebras to begin searching for more water and green grass. At this time of the year, most of these animals will be found in the Grumenti and Mara river areas. Traveling between mid-July to the end of October/early November will give you a chance to witness the river crossing. Imagine seeing thousands of wildebeests singing a song of solidarity while crossing the river.
You will arrive in the Serengeti at 11:00am. In Serengeti, your guide will be eagerly waiting to show you the beauty of Tanzania. It is now time to say goodbye to the camp staff, carry a packed lunch for your morning game drive and then proceed to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority. You will arrive in the late afternoon and have some time to relax before dinner. All meals and your overnight stay will be at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. Ngorongoro Serena Lodge is located on the crater’s rim and has a very beautiful view of the crater.Enjoy the view!
You can choose to make a stop at Olduvai Gorge or Masai Boma. Please, let us know if you would like to explore the area. Lastly, Olduvai Gorge is one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world; it has proven invaluable in furthering the world’s understanding of early human evolution.
The crater is very beautiful and the animals are more active in the early morning. , You can decide to have breakfast at the hotel or carry a packed breakfast and lunch. Please, remember to discuss these logistics with your safari guide. Today you will descend into the crater which is about 600 meters and you will get to experience the true spirit of Africa, the Africa of bygone days, as you explore the crater which has been a permanent home for numerous wildlife populations. Hence, the crater has long been regarded as Africa’s “Garden of Eden”.
From the comfort of your 4 x 4 vehicle crafted exclusively for game viewing, you will have an opportunity to spot the Big Five – the elephant, the buffalo,the leopard, the black mane lion and the rare black rhino as well as hyenas, jackals, flamingos and the yawning hippos. You will then enjoy a delightful picnic lunch in the heart of this ancient volcanic crater close to the hippo pool. Thereafter, you will begin your early evening drive to Maramboi Tented Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will head to Tarangire National Park with a packed lunch. The park is beautiful and has a lot of baobab trees and elephants.You will then have a full day game drive in the park and enjoy your lunch at the picnic site. Thereafter, in the evening, you will drive back to Maramboi Tented Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.
After breakfast, you will head out with a packed lunch for a full day game drive in Tarangire National Park. By now, we hope you will have numerous beautiful pictures of the Big Five. In the late afternoon, you will head to the park and drive to Arusha. In Arusha you will be welcomed at Haradali Home. This will be your home away from home. When we built our home, we realized that it is in a beautiful location and we thought it would be great to share it with you! In hotels you will be served and the waiters will leave, but in our home, we will stay and engage in different conversations! Karibu Sana!
You will be able to visit different places in Arusha. You will be using a public transport vehicle (tuk-tuk) as you go on a a coffee tour, experience the daily life of a typical person living in Arusha, and explore different historical sites while learning about the city
Some of the places you could visit are the Cultural Heritage site, the Snake park, Maasai Market, the local market, Clock tower and local restaurants.
